“I always say the making of the movie is sometimes even more dramatic than the actual movie. And publishing a book strikes me as similar. Fun case in point on the movie theme… Back to the jeeps. I worked as an assistant director on the tank chase sequence in James Bond movie Golden Eye. The sequence was shot in St. Petersburg, Russia 1994. When Mayor Sobchak’s wife turned up on the set one morning along a scenic St. Petersburg canal to see two military jeeps roar down an alley way, crash through the ornate cast-iron balustrade into the canal in a ball of fire, she shut down the production on the spot.”
